Larry Pedrie -
Team Illinois Hockey Director - Larry has been involved in youth hockey for 20 years and has enjoyed success at multiple levels of hockey. Larry has coached youth hockey, Division I college hockey for 15 years, was a part-time advance scout for the Chicago Blackhawks and served as Commissioner of the North American Hockey league. During Larry's years in college hockey he spent 3 years as an assistant coach at Michigan under long time and current Head Coach Red Berenson. Larry was also the Head Coach at UIC for 6 years from 1990-1996.
Sean Berens - Sean is widely considered as one of the best skill development coaches in North America. Sean has worked with the USNTDP in Ann Arbor and was a Division I college hockey All-American at Michigan State under legendary coach Ron Mason, where Sean lead the nation in goals his senior season.
Brian Seery - Brian has been involved in Chicago youth hockey for 20 years. Brian has been with Team Illinois for 10 of those seasons, has an extensive playing background, including 2 seasons in the USHL during his junior hockey career.
Daniel Carcillo - Originally from King City, Ontario, Daniel is very much looking forward to participating as Head Coach of TI’s U15 program, and plans to use the job as both continuing a second career in hockey, as well as a stepping stone in transitioning into life after the game. Along with committing to dedicate his time to the U15 program, Daniel is also dedicating much of his time to helping other athletes transition into life after their playing careers are over, by creating the non-profit Chapter 5 (www.chapter5foundation.com).
AJ Degenhardt - AJ returns to Team Illinois after spending the past 4 seasons in the North American Hockey League as Head Coach at the Coulee Region Chill in LaCrosse, WI. AJ brings a vast knowledge and resume to Team Illinois. Originally from LaCrosse, WI, AJ’s playing and coaching experience directly align with the path that all AAA players hope to travel. Prior to coaching, AJ spent 4 seasons playing for the University of Wisconsin Badgers from 2002-2006, under coach Mike Eaves. There AJ was a member of the 2006 National Championship hockey team. Before Wisconsin, AJ played 2 years for the Green Bay Gamblers of the United States Hockey League.
Rob Hutson - Team Illinois is extremely fortunate to add Rob to its coaching staff for the 2016/17 season. Rob has been integrally involved in Illinois AAA hockey for the past several years and brings extensive experience to his position. No coach in Illinois AAA hockey has enjoyed more success than Rob in recent years. Rob is largely responsible for the resurgence of the Chicago Young Americans as the former Hockey Director at CYA, and Team Illinois is looking forward to Rob having a huge impact in the future success of Team Illinois. Rob will coach the Spring 2004 and 2003 teams at Team Illinois. Rob will work closely with Larry Pedrie, Team Illinois Hockey Director, as the relationship between Rob and Larry dates back to 1991 when Rob played college hockey for Larry at UIC. Rob will focus solely on coaching and is looking forward to only those responsibilities and making a significant impact on the Team Illinois Spring 2003 and 2004 teams. Rob will begin his position at Team Illinois immediately and is very anxious to be on the ice with the Team Illinois Spring program.
Team Illinois Girls Hockey Director - Jim Swoyer
Team Illinois is excited to announce Jim Swoyer as our new Girls Hockey Director. Jim has been involved in Illinois youth hockey both boys and girls for 25 years and will bring great leadership to our girls program. We are also very excited to announce that all of our current coaches will return for the Spring, and we will be adding Chad Wells to our staff as our 19U coach.

Jim Swoyer - Jim has coached for over 25 years in numerous capacities. At the youth level, he has coached mites through midgets and has held several director positions. At the NCAA level, he was an Assistant Coach for Lake Forest College for 2 years and works with the University of Wisconsin Men's Hockey Team. Jim is the founder of Hockey Biomechanics, Inc. and has worked with NHL, AHL and pros from other international leagues. He runs summer skating sessions in Sweden including women's teams with players from the Swedish National Team. He currently serves on the AHAI Girls committee. Team Illinois is very fortunate to have Jim take over the leadership of the Girls Hockey Program.
Joe Porcaro - Joe has been involved in hockey for 30 years, 20 as a player and 10 as a coach. Joe's playing career took him from AAA to Juniors to D3 College. Joe coached for 7 years for the Northbrook Bluehawks ranging from Squirts to Pee Wee's. For the past three years, Joe has been at the U16 girls level. Two as an Assistant Coach for CYA and one year as the Head Coach for the Team Illinois U16 team. Joe also coaches camps/clinic for Precision AAA hockey. Joe as a player and as a coach has made it to the National Championships. Joe way of coaching is to do things the right way and develop every day as a player and an overall human being.
Chad Wells - Chad has been coaching hockey and other youth sports for more than 20 years. Chad grew up playing and coaching hockey in Minnesota and recently moved his family to Chicago. In MN Chad coached at several of MN's most successful AAA and elite girls hockey programs at all ages, and has worked with some of the state's most successful high school and youth coaches. He served on the Eden Prairie Hockey Board and directed and/or advised on several elite hockey clinics over the last ten years. Since moving to Chicago 2.5 years ago, Chad has been involved with coaching at Chicago Mission, Naperville Sabres and Chicago Bruins with one trip to nationals thus far and one nationally ranked top five team.
Claire O'Connor - Claire graduated from Plattsburgh State University in 2009 and after winning back-to-back NCAA Division III National Titles, she began coaching in the fall of 2010 with twin sister Courtney O’Connor. Together they have been the co-head coaches for the Latin School of Chicago Girls’ Varsity team from 2010 to current season. In the 2014-2015 season, she and sister Courtney were named the Illinois High School Girls’ Coaches of the Year, and also went on to win the first Girl’s High School State Championship by a Chicago City program at the United Center. Claire joined the Team Illinois family the spring of 2015 and is the Co-Head Coach of the U14 team currently.
Courtney M. O'Connor - Courtney began coaching in the summer of 2009. After graduating from Clarkson University in 2010, where she was a captain her senior year, began coaching in the fall with twin sister Claire O’Connor. Together they have been the co-head coaches for the Latin School of Chicago Girls’ Varsity team from 2010 to current season. In the 2014-2015 season, she and sister claire were named the Illinois High School Girls’ Coaches of the Year, and went on to with the State Championship game at the United Center. Courtney joined the Team Illinois family the spring of 2015 and is the Co-Head Coach of the U14 team currently.
