GROSENICK EARNS WEEKLY USHL
HONORS
Chicago, IL – The United States Hockey League today announced
the weekly award winners for the second week of the 2009-10 USHL
regular season. Congratulations to
Troy Grosenick of the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, who earned
honors as the USHL Goaltender of the Week.
Grosenick recorded two road victories during the
weekend and has been in net for all three games as the
RoughRiders remain undefeated (3-0-0) this season. The native of
Brookfield, Wisconsin made 26 saves in the 3-1 win vs. Sioux
City on Friday. The 20-year-old followed up with a 22-save
effort in Saturday’s 4-1 win over Waterloo. Grosenick is in his
second USHL season after ranking second among League goaltenders
with a 2.33 GAA during the 2008-09 campaign.

Illinois 98 PeeWee Minors who brought home the
Championship trophy from this year's Reebok
Little Caesars Hockeytown Invitational.
The 98s opened the weekend with some early
wins over Honeybaked (4-3) and the Hamilton
Bulldogs (3-0) on Friday. A 1-1 tie Saturday
morning with the Toronto Marlies meant that Team
Illinois had to beat the London
Knights (7-2) before heading into an
exhilarating semi-final rematch with St.
Louis Jr. Blues on Sunday. Team
Illinois battled St. Louis through two overtimes
and a shootout to advance to the finals. And in
their second consecutive trip to the
championship game, TI took advantage of some
early opportunities and skated past the Florida
Everblades (4-2)to
emerge as the 2009 Reebok Little Caesars
Hockeytown Invitational 98 Champions!
"I'm not sure if we all know how
hard a team has to work to win a weekend title,
but these boys battled until they couldn't
battle any more," commented Coach Sean Berens.
