Diana Bishopp Commits to DI Sacred Heart University!
Team Illinois is thrilled to announce that defenseman Diana Bishopp has committed to play NCAA Division I college hockey at Sacred Heart University. The Pioneers are coached by Tom O’Malley, Victoria Blake and Francesca Giammona. The team will play their games in the seventy-million-dollar crown jewel of Sacred Heart, the Martire Family Arena.
Sacred Heart competes in the NEWHA. The New England Women’s Hockey Alliance is a college hockey conference in the United States. It participates in the NCAA’s Division I as a hockey only conference.
Diana was immediately attracted to Sacred Heart for its unparalleled commitment to academics and strong Division I athletic programs. Sacred Heart has a top business school which perfectly fit Diana’s desire to attend their business school and major in finance.
“The moment we met Diana we knew she was a special player and person,” shared Coach Ponce. She comes ready to play every time she steps in the rink and every player on this team feels fully confident when she is on the ice. She has completely flourished this year. Sacred Heart has gained a talented player and she will definitely be an impact player at the next level.”
This is Diana’s first year at Team Illinois. She began playing hockey at a very young age and has played across the US ranging from the Cleveland Barons, Honeybaked, to Pens Elite.
Diana credits all her coaches, trainers and those who have helped her on and off the ice. “My parents have supported me throughout my entire career, and I am grateful,” she added. “I also want to thank Carla Pentimone for helping me through the entire recruiting process”
We wish Diana nothing but continued success! Congratulations and GO PIONEERS!
