Lauren Smith Commits to Miami University!
Team Illinois is thrilled to announce that forward Lauren Smith has committed to play ACHA Division I college hockey at Miami University. The Redhawks are coached by Eddie Ingersoll and Bailee Brekke. Goggin Ice Arena is home to both the men’s and women’s team and is located in beautiful Oxford Ohio.
“I love the beautiful red brick buildings at Miami University. I also love how the ice rink is located right on campus. I fell in love right away and then I met the team! The girls and coaches are so positive and welcoming. I knew right away this was the fit for me. I look forward to being a part of this competitive team!”
Lauren plans on majoring in Education.
“I would like to thank my family for letting me play hockey when I was young and then continuing to support me throughout all of the years. I would also like to thank Coach Ponce, Coach Ben, Coach Pat and Coach Rob for giving me so many opportunities. I also want to thank my teammates for two great years here at Team Illinois. Your encouragement and laughs have made these years of hockey so much fun.”
Lauren is in her second season here at Team Illinois. “Lauren Smith is a highly skilled forward with great hands and deceptive speed. She will definitely add to the Redhawk’s offense. She is quiet kind young woman who has a strong presence on the ice. She is the type of player that always finds the puck and contributes every shift.” Said Larry Pedrie, Girls Hockey Director.
Lauren will be joining teammate Lauren Siebert AND her sister TI Alum, Stephanie Smith, next season and we cannot wait to watch these sisters/teammates play! Congratulations Lauren and GO REDHAWKS!
