Maddie Quinn Commits to DI St. Michaels College!
Team Illinois is thrilled to announce that defenseman, Maddie Quinn has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey at St. Michaels College. The Purple Knights are coached by Chris Donovan and Sarah Quigley. The team plays their games in Cairns Arena in beautiful South Burlington, Vermont.
St. Michaels College competes in the NEWHA. The New England Women’s Hockey Alliance is a college hockey conference in the United States. It participates in the NCAA’s Division I as a hockey only conference.
St. Michaels is a beautiful college town located between Lake Champlain and the Green Mountains. Maddie fell in love with the tight knit community of the school. St. Michaels is entirely residential, which means all the students live on campus for all four years. It is a vibrant engaged campus with activities, clubs and events seven days a week. She also immediately felt a connection with the team who were extremely welcoming, solidifying her decision.
Girl’s Hockey Director, Larry Pedrie had this to say about Maddie: “Maddie Quinn has an excellent compete level and brings it to every practice and game. She carries an extremely positive attitude which is infectious to her teammates. Maddie is a strong skater, tough in her battles, sees the ice well and is an outstanding defenseman that contributes at both ends of the ice. Her strong shot from the blue line is an added plus and helps contribute to the offense.
Maddie joined Team Illinois in the 2021/22 season and made an impact on the ice immediately. As much as we will miss her talent on the ice, we will miss her enormous smile and heart.
Maddie would like to thank her family, coaches and teammates who have supported her on her journey. “My family has made a lot of sacrifices in order for me to get here and I am so grateful.” Maddie said. “Coach Ponce has given me countless opportunities and has pushed me to do my best. I want to thank Coaches Pat, Rob and Ben for always believing in me too.”
We wish Maddie the very best! Go Purple Knights!
