Team Illinois Names Tristan Musser On Ice Skills Coach
Tristan is originally from Lansing, MI where he played AAA hockey growing up before playing two seasons of junior hockey for the Dubuque Thunderbirds (CSHL). From there he continued his education and hockey, playing four years of ACHA D1 at Adrian College (MI). Wanting to stay involved in the game, Tristan moved to Buffalo, NY where he served as a Graduate Assistant for the Canisius College men’s hockey team while earning his Master’s in Sport Administration. Following his time at Canisius, Tristan stayed in Buffalo where he was hired as a Development Coach at the Academy of Hockey where he worked with beginners all the way up to pros. During this time he also coached in the Buffalo Jr. Sabres organization, scouted for the Sioux City Musketeers (USHL) and then the U.S. National Team Development Program. Using this experience, he moved on to become the Assistant General Manager/Skills coach for the Chicago Steel from 2018-2020. His duties included evaluating prospects for the USHL Draft, leading on-ice skills and supporting the coaching staff. Tristan currently lives in the west suburbs of Chicago and works as an NHL scout. Welcome to the TI Family Tristan!
